The writer in this paper is discussing two different topics they are discussing things about coaching and also they talk about child and family studies. The author addresses issues with both topics starting with coaching then talking about child and family studies. The author gives context about why is it that they are so interested in both fields while giving accounts that brought them to deciding on both these minors. What I know about the topic is it seems to be a very touchy one for the author and I myself have been in similar situations that help me relate to this author. The topic raises many issues as of how big the influences of coaches and mentors have on the development of children. The author brought up good points in how the foundation a child receives in the things they are taught play a big role in the person that child will become and how with more mentors and people willing to give time to those children without stable homes and without a positive role model the more the world can benefit as a whole. The topics that the author talk about seem to be topics that can be debated but I believe the author drew more on their own experiences then the influences of others.  The author seems to believe that the world is at stake that if there is no foundation set for the people of tomorrow (children) then our society as a whole will parish. The author believes that while coaching they can give children the foundations in tools needed to succeed in life and not just in sports. The author of this paper is Ke’Airra Jones who is a junior IDS major at the University of Southern Mississippi. The author is from Mississippi and graduated from Natchez High School this authors credibility comes from the fact that this author was a part of the things they addressed. The author is an athlete who has played three sports in high school and two sports and college the authors addresses situations they’ve had with coaches both good and bad and how those situations had both positive and negative effects which give insight on what works well with athletes and what athletes are looking for from their coaches. The author also gives accounts of situations they grew up dealing with and how having a mentor and someone who was positive in their life kept them motivated to want more out of life and to give their all in whatever they do. The author’s purpose for this paper seemed to be that they wanted understanding of people as to why they’ve chose to make this life choice. The intended audience for this paper seem to be for anyone who wants to know why the author choice to get a degree in this field. The writer seems to just be looking for understanding and seem to be looking for an audience with compassion for children. The writers tone is very concerned and very compassionate. The writer didn’t use slang but by the way in which the author wrote they assumed the writers would be college students like them. After reading this paper I feel the author really made their point they gave answers to all questions and really showed why they felt it was so important. The author could have went into greater detail to make the paper more efficient.
